Locking a portion of a table
Hi Craig
If you have Word 2003, you can select the cells you want to allow to be edited, and use Tools Protection to restrict editing, but allow exceptions for your selected area. In earlier versions of Word you can only allow or prevent editing by section. So you could effectively allow editing of certain rows by breaking up your table and putting continuous breaks between them. Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly. Have you found a solution yet? -----Original Message----- Does anyone know if I can lock a portion of a table so no one else can edit it? . |

Locking a portion of a table
Is there a trick to getting this to work? I have tried=20
and it creates a section break for the entire row - which=20 is not what we want. One of the MVP's said that it's not=20 possible. Melanie -----Original Message----- Hi JF, Insert continuous section breaks just before and just=20 after the section of the table you want to protect. Then, from Tools Protect For forms, click on the=20 Sections button, check the section(s) you want to lock up. You can also use a password. Two comments 1) It is very easy to defeat, 2) Some Word features will not be available once you=20 have a locked up section (Header/Footer, Footnote, Bullets and Numbering=20 dialog, page numbering, drawing...). -- Cheers! _______________________________________ Jean-Guy Marcil - Word MVP Word MVP site: http://www.word.mvps.org "JF" a =E9crit dans=20 le message de news: ...
