Default I'm looking for a Word Computer Equip. Inventory template

I kind of feel embarrassed to ask, but I wonder if there is a gentle person
that can help me with locating a template for and inventory list. Kind of
what does the company have in inventory computer wise. Something like make
and model, serial # installed software etc. I looked on google, and looked
all over the place, but was unable to come up with something. I also need a
service request form. I don't mind paying for this. All I need is the right
direction. I appreciate all the help I can
get...........Thanks..........peter

Default I'm looking for a Word Computer Equip. Inventory template

Hello Suzanne, I tried it and I thought it would work. It sure worked for
me, the table I mean. I guess my boss saw some nicer looking forms, I mean
boxes here and there, just super. That is what he wants. I'm ready to have a
heart attack, I don't know what to do. I told him I was going to ask for
help in this NG, it is not like I'm trying to hide my total crash on this. I
can make a form in another program, like FormFlow and JetForm. I bought
these program many years ago, and used them. He wants them in Word though. I
would pay 200.- or more to buy a program that would allow me to design a
form and save it in Word. Isn't there anything out there at all. I would
like to send you a copy of a form that he saw and liked. It is not a form
that I can use, but that is the style he likes. It is a Word .doc
form.........Peter

If you have the form he likes in a Word doc, just analyze it and copy its
layout and formatting. If the problem is that you don't know how to make
forms in Word, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...nTheBlanks.htm and especially
the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to.

IMO, what should matter for an inventory is the content, not the appearance.
Moreover, it may be that Excel is more suitable for this than Word. I notice
that the inventory templates offered at
http://office.microsoft.com/template...CT061993481033
are (with the exception of one Access template) all for either Excel or
Publisher. The "Equipment Inventory List" at
http://office.microsoft.com/template...CT061995421033
and the "Inventory List" at
http://office.microsoft.com/template...CT061995421033
seem highly rated and very popular.

Hello Suzanne again........yesterday I got all uptight about this whole
thing and stayed away from the computer. I feel better now. Of course the
content, not the appearance is the whole point. I just have to sit down and
go over the content with my supervisor and then do the form. Thanks so much
for finding these forms for me, I liked them. I wished I could download
them. I couldn't because it said that I didn't have Publisher 2002 on the
system. I am a legal registered owner of Office XP. Well, I have that
version loaded though, and even had it running while I tried downloading the
form. I don't understand this at all. Is there a phone number you know of so
I can straighten this out with MS, or should I just update to 2003? My
Office Pro version update is 300.- some dollars. I don't mind paying it, is
it something big, the update, I mean much better then I already have? Thanks
a bunch again for your wonderful help, you care and you say it the way it
is, your a great lady Suzanne..............Grandpa Peter

The forms I referred you to were for Excel, so I don't know why Publisher
would come into play unless you were trying to use the Publisher ones. Most
versions of Office XP did not include Publisher (only the OEM version and a
special limited-edition version, IIRC), but Publisher alone is not terribly
pricey. I certainly wouldn't upgrade to Office 2003 just for this; if you
do, make sure the "boss" pays for it!

Just a quick update, the reason the forms didn't download, I had Zone Alarm
on. The minute I turned it off, the forms downloaded and confirmed that I
had the programs installed. What a mess, I love ZA, but hate that feature of
it. Too bad the error message didn't say anything about that possibility.
Thanks for the wonderful help again Suzanne. When I go to work today, I can
show the boss the downloaded forms and ask him to give me an idea about the
content first. I'm just a helper there, but I still take things
seriously..........Peter
