Default Headers and Footers

How do I enter a header once and it comes out on all the
pages of my workbook? Right now I have to manually copy
and insert it on each page.

I do not believe you have to do that. The h & f 's are visible when printed
or in print preview, not on the ws.

I don't mean that I manually insert it on each sheet. I
use the header/footer function, but I have multiple pages
in my workbook and want to only enter in header and footer
once and for it to come out on all the sheets.
Thanks, Don

Don,

Select all of the sheets by first clicking the first sheet tab, holding down
the SHIFT key, then clicking the last sheet tab. This will group all the
sheets, and [Group] will appear in the Excel title bar. Now, set up your
headers and footers. The headers and footers will be applied to all sheets.
You can then ungroup the sheets by clicking on any worksheet tab.

Chip,

Worked like a charm. Thanks for the advice, I'll store it
in my FYI folder for future use as well.

Thanks,
Don

Chip

Is there any way to get the header/footer to automaticly
set every time a new wookbook is opened? I unhid
personal.xls file and set up the default header/footer
that I would like to use, saved the file, re-hid
personal .xls, shutdown excel, and went back into the
program and it didn't bring up the header/footer as a
default setting on the new/blank work book. The
header/footer tab still came up empty and read "none".

Any idea how to get the header/footer to come up
automaticly?

You can change it for any new workbooks that are based on a template.

Create new workbook with that style. Then save it in your XLStart folder
(location varies with versions of windows & excel). Save it with the filename
of BOOK.XLT.

Now each workbook you create new will use that as the default.

John Walkenbach has an addin that will help with exising worksheets.

And the name of the template in XLStart should be called BOOK.XLT.
