In Outlook 2007 only 223 of my 509 Contacts show up - why?

I might try a new mail profile, which would build a new .ost offline folders file.

I had already tried that to no avail. Turning cache mode off seemed to fix

Well, I'm stumped, unless you can puzzle out something that makes the visible contacts different from the invisible ones.
