Default Trial Balance Report

I have helped maintain an Access database to track construction jobs.
These jobs have a total po and then invoices billed against the po.
We run ap/ar reports, post to a gl summary etc. The problem is our
accountant now wants a trial balance report similar to QuickBooks and
we can't seem to get him the data he is after. We are considering a
link between Access and QuickBooks to print the financial reports he
is looking for and we can't seem to gather in Access.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Here is my specific problem.

I hit post accidently and didn't finish post. Sorry.

OK

Account Year Amount
A 2008 15000 (invoice)

A 2009 -600 (payment)

Now if I run a report based on date range for 2009, Account A will
show a -600. Instead of the $14,400 that is truly still owed on the
account.

Is there a way to reflect an actual Trial Balance report in Access.
