Default Stock Performance

I want to set-up a database to track stock performance for several people who
would buy and sell (virtual) stocks. Their performance would be evaluated
monthly or quarterly.
I would need a table for players and a table for stocks (symbol, name, P/E
ratio, etc). Would I just need one table for purchases and sales?
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Howard,
Yes... one table would be preferred. Think of your stocks, in and out, as a checkbook.
A credit field for +Purchases and a debit field for -Sales.
Then, a simple totals query Sum(Purchases)-Sum(Sales) grouped by Ticker symbol yields
the exact number OnHand at any time.

Thanks, Al.

That's exactly what I wanted: How to compute the exact number on hand at any
given time.
