Default Scheduling resources

we have exchange server 2003 and I set up Mailboxes for a number of
resources. Staff have the ability to schedule resources and act as Meeting
Organizer. I understand that the Meeting organizer is not a "required
attendee".

Using my own calendar (not the resource calander) I have scheduled a
resource that spams the time frame 8am -4pm. I am only included in the
meeting as the Meeting Organizer". The meeting is set up and resources have
accepted.

Now, if I try and book a meeting duing this time frame and include myself as
a "Required Attendee", I get notification that there is a conflict. The new
meeting still appears in my calendar.

Am I missing something? If acting as an organizer does not require me to
attend a meeting , why do I get a conflict message when I book a meeting
during the same time frame and I am a required attendee?

Thanks for the help

Organizer presumes that you are a REQUIRED attendee.

Milly,

Thanks for the reply.
I guess if this is the case, then If I have a conflict with a resouce that I
set up as previously mentioned, I get notification of the conflict and I can
still accept the meeting?

Can you offer a clear explanation as to how to resolve a situation where I
book a room as a resource (confernece room) and I am the meeting Organizer
but have no intention of attending the meeting, then I book a separate
meeting during the same time slot in another room that I want to attend?
