Add the column using DDL
Hi,
I'm trying to automate some procedure with time series tables. I add a column using DDL. It always adds it as the last one to the right side of the table. I need it to be added as the 3rd column of the table. Is there any way of entering a new column in particular positioin or moving the column using DDL or DML? Thanks. |

You should not be working with columns in a table but using a query, form, or
report. -- KARL DEWEY Build a little - Test a little "dz2k7" wrote: Hi, I'm trying to automate some procedure with time series tables. I add a column using DDL. Routinely changing the design of a table suggests incorrect design. Secondly, the order of fields in a table is irrelevant and meaningless. If you want to see the fields in a particular order, you can create a Query based on the table with the fields in any order you like. Are you perchance storing a time series as multiple fields in one record? If so, you're "committing spreadsheet"; tables should grow vertically, not across! Perhaps you could describe what you're trying to accomplish. -- John W. Vinson [MVP] |

No. I just need an answer, if anybody did what I do. I understand that you want to help, and appreciate that, but not going to dicuss the disign. I already did that job using traditional disign. The only problem is it works too long time because of huge volume of data. I'm trying something else. Thanks. |

Then I have to use two databases. I need another DB for the new table because of the volume of data - I hit 2 GB limit. I do not want to do that. The procedure should be automated and i don't want use vbs for this excercise. I have a feeling that there is an exit in the end of the tonnel. |
