Default Publisher templates should default template papersizes to region

Publisher in-built templates assume Letter-sized printing out - that's a real
pain in A4 printer regions. It would really help in using Publisher that it
would default all its in-built templates to assume an A4 printer when in
A4-regions (eg EU) - for example the "postcard" be defaulted to 1/4 A4, not
1/4 Letter. Must be possible for Publisher to note the default region for
the PC on which it is installed - either at install or preferably load time.

Publisher does take note of the current region (at least, it does once the
latest updates have been installed), but not for paper size. Paper size is
read from your default printer driver (how irritating would it be if you
were in the US but wanted to print A4, or vice-versa - you'd have to change
the size every time). Publisher templates should default to appropriate
sizes once your default printer is configured to print on A4 paper by
default.

I regret this doesn't seem to be the case for me: choosing "postcard" in the
"New Publications" templates give you a 1/4 Letter not 1/4 A4 size as the
starting point - you then have to change it under "Page setup" (which is a
pain).. My default Windows printer is definitely A4 and I am using Publisher
2003SP2 with all the latest updates.
I agree that Publisher should perhaps take its lead from the default printer
- ormaybe even ask you if your region is not Letter?
