Default How do I autonumber a field in a table?

Looking to modify an existing table (300 tables) in a microsoft word document
so that additions to the tables are autonumbered. (3 columns: autonumber,
part description, part number. ) Column 1 should contain the automatic
number. How do I make the entire column autonumbered?

TableSelect Column.
FormatBullets and Numbering.

If you have a header row(s) that you don't want the numbering to apply to,
first apply the numbering to the whole column and then remove it from the
specific cells/rows where it is not desired.

Regards,
Chad

P.S. Nice ref to Calvin and Hobbes. Rest assured I'm not the alien
monster/teacher.
