Hi Candace,
Word provides tools to advise you of the current count of Words in your document and to check the readability level (type 'readability scores' in the help box to see an explanation of the supported scoring systems) when you activate that choice in Tools=Options=Spelling & Grammar Word doesn't include tools to prevent you from exceeding either. There are a number of websites that can help with better writing, including this one. http://moodle.ed.uiuc.edu/wiked/inde...ing_Technology ========== "Candace" wrote in message ... Re. the word count, if you are using Word 2003, there is a facility to put a floating 'wordcount' tool bar on the screen.. it doesn't do running totals, but does put up the message to hit 'recount'.. Re. readability, I will leave that to someone who actually uses it.. I did years ago when using Lotus Amipro, but have little experience with Word in this respect.. there are many settings in there, and much of what I type would probably not make it through.. -- Mike Hall MVP - Windows Shell/user http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Candace" wrote in message ...
