Default my prof cant open my word doc. the ext is docx ? word 2007

i emailed an assignmemt to school. the prof sent back saying that she could
not open the doc.
i noticed that the file extension was docx.
that is the first document i emailed since i installed word 2007.

what is the problem?

The problem is that you have sent an attachment in a format that your
teacher has no means of opening. Either she must install the Word 2007
compatibility pack (which probably won't go down too well) or you must save
the document in Word 97-2003 format.
