I am having the same trouble that Shirl had with her PowerPoint. I put a
password to open and a different password to modify and now I cannot close
PowerPoint Presentation without taking off the passwords. I have downloaded
all the updates for Microsoft 2003. Can Anyone help me?

I don't see Shirl's post, so can you tell us what happens when you try to
close PPT without taking off the passwords?

Do you get an error message?

Are you logged into the computer using a roaming profile?

No, I don't get an error message. Nothing happens. It doesn't save and it
doesn't exit out.

Also, when I put a password to open and a different one to modify, I do it
in Tools | Options | Security. Clicking OK there doesn't close the
presentation, it just adds the passwords. When I click the X in the upper
right corner of the window to close PPT (and, therefore, the open
presentation), I'm prompted to save the file and I can do so.

I guess I'm having trouble understanding the steps you're taking to add the
passwords, save the file, and where the save (or exit) fails.

I seem to recall some weird issues with roaming profiles, which is why I
keep asking about that.

I also seem to recall some issues if you change the encryption strength for
passwords when you go to Tools | Options | Security | Advanced. What have
you chosen there? (You may also find this under File | Save As, then click
Tools in the Save As dialog and choose Security Options | Advanced.)
