How do I transfer my address book to a new computer?
So you want to transfer your autocompletion cache, not your Contacts. The
methods for doing so are well documented and posted here frequently. Read the paragraph entitled "Migrating your NK2(s) file to a new machine" he http://www.ingressor.com/autocompletetips.htm -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "fromageone" wrote in message ... You guys seem to be the only folks who can help me: I want to transfer eMails, yes. I want to transfer contacts, yes. But most importantly: I want to be able, on my new computer, to create an eMail and type in Ste. . .for example, and right away, I get a pull down selection of Stephen, Steve, , etc. Get it? Is this information located in the .pst file that you speak of here? If this question isn't clear enough, let me do the back end. Without this hidden file/feature, I will have to type through or resend to everyone I've ever written to, an eMail to have their eMail captured in my (potential) To:, CC: or BCC: line. I sure hope someone can help me out there with this. 21st century customer service - " got to our web site" - stinks. . .! How do I transfer my address book to a new computer?
I tried the Ingressor Unlocking your NK2 files but found it does not apply to
Windows 7. Can you provide these instructions. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: So you want to transfer your autocompletion cache, not your Contacts. I've done it. It works fine. Can't tell what you did wrong without knowing
what you did. -- Russ Valentine "WD" wrote in message ... I tried the Ingressor Unlocking your NK2 files but found it does not apply to Windows 7. Can you provide these instructions. How do I transfer my address book to a new computer?
In what way? It should be identical, except for the file path.
From http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup2007.asp#vista The file path in Win7 is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook (paste it into the address field of windows explorer) -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you sync your mailbox with a smartphone or pda? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=39473 "WD" wrote in message ...
