The Publisher 2002 Help File does not provide any information on setting the
starting page number in Publisher 2002 to a number other than 1. The subject
was published in the Publisher 98 User's Guide; but the process changed for
2002. Nor have I found any microsoft.com file that mentions such a
"important" concept except in this Discussion Group.

How do the MS MVP folks access this information?

But in the meanwhile, is ther a User Manual for Publisher 2002 or 2003?
This help file, I have installed, does not provide any information on
setting the starting page number in Publisher 2002; which is quite
different
than in Publisher 98.
Publisher 2003 has eight Training Courses, about six hours worth, but it
is
not obvious that which of these courses would cover "starting page
number",
so I would presume this subject is not covered. So Sorry.

Thanks, So the insert section is just a means of setting or revising
the
starting page number, it does not insert any physical or logical stuff
in the
file. It is only the options that are inserted?

I have the two CD disks that I used to install Publisher 2002, neither
of
them seem to have a 2002 User's Guide. The older Publisher 98 nor the
newer
Publisher 2003 do not "work" for Publisher 2002. Is there a Publisher
2002
User's Guide on a CD or on the web?

I don't remember how I came to know about the section. It was included in 2003
so I went back to 2002 to see if the feature was introduced. There it was. There
is no mention of sections in the help. If you want the full instructions, go

My new search procedure for Publisher is enter the key words, then
"siteffice.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher", hence:

starting at page number siteffice.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher

From Help 2003 (someone nic'ed my 2002 so I don't have it installed any
longer):

I want to start page numbering with a specific number.
You can use sections to specify the starting number for page numbering
within a publication.

1.If you have not already added page numbers to your publication, click Page
Numbers on the Insert menu, and then select the options that you want in the
Page Numbers dialog box.
2.On the page sorter (page sorter: One or more paged-shaped controls,
located in the lower left corner of the Publisher window, that represent
each page of the publication and can be used to go to, rearrange, or work
with publication pages.), right-click the page number where you would like
to begin page numbering, and then click Insert Section on the shortcut menu.
3.In the Section dialog box, select Begin a section with this page.
Note If you have selected the first page in your publication, this option
will not be available and you can proceed directly to step 4.

4.To start the page numbering with a specific number value, select Start at,
and then type the page number that you want to use.
If you start your section with something other than the first page of your
publication, the new section for your publication will be shown by a break
in the sequence of pages in the page sorter.
