Vista and Office 2000 beeps on clicking filename
I just switched to a new laptop with Vista SP2 instead of the xp I am used
to. I've installed Microsoft Office 2000 Premium to it. When I do a file open in Word, Access and Excel, I get a beep (or maybe it's a ding) when I click on a file name. I do not get it anywhere else (including Explorer). It is the same sounding beep that I get if I have gone into tools-options or file open, etc, and then try to click on the original page without exiting the dialog. Does that mean the computer thinks I am doing an error every time I click on a file? Does anyone have an idea on what I must have pressed to get this or how to get rid of the beep? Note that I do NOT have tool-options-general "feedback with sound" checked. Thanks. |

Since office 2k is not fully comaptible with Vista, perhaps this is a
compatibility issue? "AB" wrote in message ... I just switched to a new laptop with Vista SP2 instead of the xp I am used to. I've installed Microsoft Office 2000 Premium to it. Vista and Office 2000 beeps on clicking filename
It may not be fully compatible I suppose, because it's pre-Vista. But it
does function in all other ways, so far. I notice that ACDSee 7 is beeping too. It is 2 versions before being "certified" as Vista-compatible. But it functions other than the beep. I am not ready to replace all my software so I will just turn down the sound :-) Thanks for responding. "DL" address@invalid wrote in message ... Vista and Office 2000 beeps on clicking filename
I have same problem of getting a Windows beep sound when I click on a file or folder in File Open dialog, but it only started happening 2 years after installing Vista 64 and Excel 2000. The one unusual thing I did earlier that day was install a Fax/modem and send several test faxes using the fax program Classic Phone Tools, which uses several ring tone sounds (not beeps). I don't understand the interaction. The problem occurs only in Excel 2000, not Word 2002 or Vista Explorer.

Vista and Office 2000 beeps on clicking filename
I had the same problem. It materialized out of nowhere, proved impervious to
any attempt to fix it, and one day left on its own.
