Default Excel Unexpectedly Closes While Trying to Save a File

We are running Excel 97 in a Citrix Environment and when
the user tries to save a file, it closes the entire
program. All changes are lost. I have checked the Event
Viewer and there is nothing in there. This problem does
not happen all the time. Any ideas on what to look for?

Does it matter where the file is being saved to--- Local or Network
Does it matter if it is a newly created file or a saved file that was opened?
Exactly how are they saving? Shortcut? File Save? Just clicking the X?
What AV on local machine and network?
What local OS?

The file is being saved onto the Network. It looks like
these are existing files that are being modified. It
also seems to be happening more frequently with a Shared
Workbook. When saving, they are just selecting the Save
icon. We are running Trend Micro in our office - this
problem is showing up in our Citrix environment where the
problem workstations are thin clients - therefore they do
not run AV software locally. The OS for the thin client
is Windows 2000.
