Default Can't Get Outlook 2003 Under AWinXP Pro SP2 to Use Contacts to Get E-Mail Addresses

After saving all important files from my hard disk on a separate hard drive
on this computer, I had to format my C: drive and reinstall a fresh copy of
WindowsXP Pro, Office 2003, etc.

I had saved my Outlook.pst file to a separate hard drive beforehand and then
copied it back to the same directory on my C: drive where it had been
beforehand. When I opened Outlook, my Contacts opened up just fine.

However, when I try to send e-mail, Outlook 2003 won't
permit access to my Contacts to get e-mail addresses; I get an error
saying I don't have access to the Address Book; that it may have been moved
or whatever. Well, it HAD been moved.

Actually, if I mess with it a while, I can open the Select Names dialogue,
but under
the "Show Names from the" caption the word Contacts appears in the pull-down
menu, but none of my contacts appear in the list below; it is blank.

When I open the pull-down menu, I find A SECOND "Contacts" (below the first
one) in the pull-down list. When I select that "Contacts" item, all of my
contacts
appear in the list below. And I find that I can select from that list to
send e-mail.
HOWEVER, EVERY TIME I start a new e-mail message and click on the TO
button, so I can select a given recipient, I get that same error message
again. So I have
to go through that tedious process with Select Names in order to locate an
address
card in my Contacts.

An MVP in an Outlook newsgroup recently told me that exporting the contents
of Outlook.pst then re-importing them results in duplicate entries. He
further
stated that I should copy the Outlook.pst file to another hard drive when I
need
to export, then copy it back to the C:: drive when I need to import. That
works
fine EXCEPT for the address book.

How can I get the Address Book to work seamlessly with my Contacts?

With kindest regards,

Dick Smith
