Can you delete a thread?
Hi,
If you are using Outlook Express or any other news reader program then you'll be able to delete the threads. Just select the ones you don't want to view anymore and then hit the Delete button. -- Gary Tsang Microsoft MVP - Windows XP Shell/User http://www.microsoft.com/mvp "The Old Timer" wrote in message ... Can you delete a thread?

Can you delete a thread? I see that some newsgroups allow hundreds of off topic topics. To delete a thread using Outlook Express 6.x, highlight the thread in question, then press the "Delete" key. The offending thread will immediately disappear, and when you compact newsgroups, the deleted thread will be removed from your database. Now that that is out of the way, I will show you another way to "remove" offending threads: 1) Mark the offending thread as "Read" 2) Create a rule which displays only unread threads 3) Apply it to the newsgroup containing the offending thread. The offending thread will disappear (along with all other thread marked as "Read") This will leave your database unchanged. -- Donald L McDaniel Post all replies to the Newsgroup, so that all may be informed. Can you delete a thread?
"The Old Timer" wrote Can you delete a thread? I see that some newsgroups allow hundreds of off topic topics. Here's the way I use: 1. View Current view Show all messages. 2. Go to the earliest message you can find in the thread, preferably the original one. 3. Right click on the message and choose "Mark conversation as read". 4. Click on "Message" at the top of the screen and pick "Ignore conversation". 5. View Current view Hide read or ignored messages. (If you prefer to see your read messages, pick "Hide ignored messages" instead.) This will remove all existing messages from sight and hopefully will keep new ones out of view as well. -- Bob Kanyak's Doghouse http://www.kanyak.com |
