Outlook 2007 Address Book
I having been using this application for over 1 year, without problem. As of
today, when composing a new e-mail, and clicking on "To", my outlook address book does not open. Instead, I get a window that says "Select Names:Contacts". In the past, my entire contacts listing opened up and I could click on the intended recipients. I've made no changes to any settings of which I'm aware. How can I change to the way it was? Thanks! Outlook 2007 Address Book
Hi Russ,
You helped me on a similar problem a couple of months ago on the PC in my office. In fact I looked your reply up to see if I could use to fix my home PC. I'm not sure I completely understand your response. When you say open address book, do you mean my Outlook contacts personal folder? One other thing I looked at prior to asking for help was to right click on the contacts folder properties. This opened a window called contact properties. By clicking on the Outlook Address Book tab, I can see that "Contacts" has been selected as the folder for my e-mail address book. Although there is a check mark in the box, the entire line is not "active", in other words, I can't uncheck, or check the box. Again everthing has worked fine for over a year then yesterday, it went south. No. I'm saying open the Address Book from your toolbar. In that view you
will have the option to choose which Contacts Folder you want to display first. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "dale1948" wrote in message ... Outlook 2007 Address Book
Russ,
Ok, I tried your suggestion. I only have 1 address book; "Contacts". This is the one that had been selected; as always. When I type a name into select names window that opens when I click on "To" in e-mail, no list of contacts appeares but, I can type a name in, click the search button and one name will appear. Outlook 2007 Address Book
Can anyone tell me if you can add a command button to add a contact from an
email to the address book. I tried the help menu ( bit of a misnomer) but it does show what the button might look like. I understand that Outlook doesn't save automatically the address of someone you reply to. Supposedly you can highlight an address in an open message and then click on this button. But I cannot find it. Any help would be wondeful. Thanks J "dale1948" wrote: I having been using this application for over 1 year, without problem. I understand that Outlook doesn't save automatically the address of someone you reply to. Supposedly you can highlight an address in an open message and then click on this button. But I cannot find it. If the address is in a recipient or sender field, right-click and choose Add to Contacts. If the address is in the body of the message, you can click it to open a new message addressed to that address, press Ctrl-K to resolve the address, then right-click it and choose Add to Contacts. If there are conditions other than these, explain them and we may be able to suggest something else. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
