Default How turn off 'Display As' in Outlook contacts list?

I have XP Pro w/ Office 2003 Pro Edition,
within Outlook Contacts list I have duplicate entries for every contact
within my list,
both with the 'Email' address AND with the 'Display As' address ;
BUT, I ONLY want just one !
I have tried clearing out the 'Display As' contact but it just RE-appears.
This didnt happen with Window 2000 ...
Thanks in advance

Post is too vague. Clarify what you mean by "Contacts list." That could mean
anything. Clarify where you are seeing "duplicates" and what you mean by
that description.
There is absolutely no reason to clear the Display As field, nor could you.
Why do you think you need to?
