Default sorting by last name in address book dialogs

I currently have Outlook set up to go to "My Contacts" first, and then to our
GAL. In the Contacts module, everything displays in the proper sort order.
When I compose a new e-mail, and click on the "To:" button, when it goes to
the address book based on the contacts in "My Contacts", it only sorts them
first name/last name. It seems that my machine is not the only one with this
issue.

You son't state your Outlok version. This is for pre-OL 2007. Click
ToolsE-mail AccountsView or change existing directories or address
booksNext. Select Outlok Address Book. Click Change. Set the sort order
there. Stop and restart Outlook.

Sorry, It is Outlook 2003 Professional Edition. Already tried the fix you
suggested, it didn't work.

Did you stop and restart Outlook after making the change?
