Export does not work

I had made a pst folder, so I added it with data file management. Then I added a folder containing contents, "asking" it to go into the pst folder. It did not go there. Eh? So where DID it go? The new contacts folder was in the contacts navigation pane (top part). Correct. I Moved it to the pst folder but it disappeared. Why did you move it? It was already IN the pst file you just created. All the Contacts pane does is show you the various contacts folders you have. It's not a location within a specific file, it's a view. -- Asking a question? Export does not work
Ah. First, I cannot copy contacts to a new folder! I have tried repeatedly
(press control, drag) with several new folders. It fails. Well, the contacts are not visible. But when I drag one of the contacts into the folder again, I get the "duplicate" warning window. Something is very wrong. I tried to move the folder to the mail folder because when I try to export to excel only the mail folders are visible, no contact folders. When I export to a pst file, the file is empty. "Gordon" wrote: nantucketbob wrote: I had made a pst folder, so I added it with data file management. Export does not work - And More!
I just discovered that a couple mail folders have just moved themselves,
nesting themselves inside other folders! Further, when I move an email, the contacts folder I made earlier appears, but not when I expand the folder. I need a solution. I think it is a registry issue because I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 with no cure. If I cannot find the problem, I will need to reformat my C: drive and reinstall everything. (even though I have legal copies of everything.....aaaargh.) "nantucketbob" wrote: Ah. First, I cannot copy contacts to a new folder! I noticed that in my mail folders was a new "Personal Folders" folder which could not be expanded. I tried to remove it with data file management but it did not appear! The problem with what you did was that you were using the "Contacts" view of the Navigation Pane, which will not show the folder hierarchy. It shows all Contacts folders on the same level. You need to use the Folder List view to properly see the folder hierarchy. Do that now and expand all folders and you should be able to find your "missing" folder. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

... I just discovered that a couple mail folders have just moved themselves, nesting themselves inside other folders! Not possible. You must have moved them. Further, when I move an email, the contacts folder I made earlier appears, but not when I expand the folder. Appears where? We can't see what you see. You must be very explicit in describing what you see so we can get a picture of it for ourselves. I need a solution. I think it is a registry issue because I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 with no cure. If I cannot find the problem, I will need to reformat my C: drive and reinstall everything. Folder migration: Well, it did happen. When I closed Outlook and reopened
it, the folders were in the correct place (Mail navigation pane) Contacts view. Yes, I can see folders in the navigation pane. When I tried to move an email, I used the "move" command which opens a window. Within that window was a mail folder that contained a contacts folder, the one that was missing.
