Need to make PowerPoint XP my default PowerPoint
Hi,
I had to rebuild my computer recently and reload all my software. I carry both PowerPoint 2000 & PowerPointXP (2002) on my system as I have various clients who use different versions. But PowerPoint 2000 is currently my default and I'd prefer XP to be the default. I cannot remember how to switch to make XP the default. I remember moving it to a different directory or something....do I need to reload it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Justin |

You need to edit your file associations for .PPS, POT, and PPT. Open Windows
Explorer and go to Tools Folder Options and find each of the three extensions and change the program to the version of PowerPoint you want. In my case I point to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2002\Office10\POWERPNT.EXE. Then click on Advanced and edit the Actions list. The Open action should be the default for POT and PPT and Show should be the default for PPS. -- Sonia Coleman Microsoft PowerPoint MVP Team Autorun Software, Templates and Tutorials http://www.soniacoleman.com "Justin" wrote in message ... That makes sense. Last time I think I had to load XP into a particular
directory and rename the one that 2000 was in, but your way is much simpler Sonia. Thanks. J "Sonia" wrote in message ... You need to edit your file associations for .PPS, POT, and PPT. Justin,
1. Select Start | Run... 2. In the dialog, type "PathtoXP\PowerPnt.exe" /regserver where PathtoXP is the location where the 2002 executabe resides. 3. Press Enter Now, if you double-click on a PPT,POT,PPS file it will load using PowerPoint 2002. -- Regards, Shyam Pillai Image Importer Wizard: http://skp.mvps.org/iiw.htm "Justin" wrote in message ...
