Function Key to switch back and forth between Switchboard and Edit

I just attended an Access class and of course have forgotten a few things. The instructor used a Function Key (maybe in conjunction with the Shift Key) to switch back and forth between the Switchboard and Editing the DB. She didn't use the Right Angle View Button. Does anyone know what the function key could be.

Also, every now and then my database won't open in the EDIT DATABASE MODE and will only open in the SWITCHBOARD. Does anyone know what's happening?

She most likely used F11 that shows the main window.
Is the mainwindow behind the switchboard? Closig the SB wont close your db
