The default location is a hidden temp folder, within temp internet files,
and as such is cleaned out from time to time (The OLK folder) By using Save As, once attachment is opened, to save to a location on your hd, if you have edited the attachment, the origonal attachment remains in the mail Or using one of the attachment utilites available at www.slipstick.com "mburke48" wrote in message news  how do I change the default folder that Outlook saves attachments to?

If you're opening an attachment and then using the FileSave As menu of the application that opened it, then DL's answer applies.
