Default bullet changes after save

My imported picture bullets on random slides change to standard bullets when
I save and reopen a PPT2003 file. How do I keep the bullets from changing?

If your file has multiple masters, go to View/Normal (do this twice) then
View/Master/Slide Master. Drag the master with the picture bullets so it's
first in the list of masters.

This might cause problems with the other slide masters (most likely, the one
that used to be first), though.

I have only a single slide master. It uses the picture bullets.

Has your template been created in an older version of PowerPoint? I once
had a similar problem. When I started from scratch (i.e. Blank.pot) in PPT
2003, the bullet points behaved as they should.

Kind regards,
Ute

Not a clue, then. I suspect Ute's on to something in her response, though.
