Problem with Command Button Hyperlinks
Hi!
I'm using command buttons to launch Internet pages from a form (Access 2002). The pages are different chapters in an online manual. The website uses frames, with a left frame showing the table of contents and a right (main) frame showing the chapters of the manual. When I insert the URL for a specific chapter into a hyperlink in a Word document, it launches the page correctly, with the table of contents displayed in the left frame and the relevant chapter displayed in the main frame. But when I paste the same URL into the Hyperlink Address field for a command button, the page launches with the table of contents displayed in the left frame and Chapter 1 (instead of the relevant chapter) in the main frame. When I try URLs for other chapters, I get the same result (table of contents in the left frame, Chapter 1 in the main frame). The Address window of my browser reveals that a section of URL that each link has in common ("HCPM.htm#") is being omitted. When I copy this now-shortened URL from the Address window and paste it into the Hyperlink Address for the button, the relevant chapter is displayed but frames are disabled (so the table of contents isn’t displayed). Is there a way to get Access to display both the table of contents and desired chapter upon launching the page? It seems to me that the problem stems from Access shortening the URLs when opening Internet Explorer but when I check the Properties of the buttons, each URL is there in its entirety. Please reply only in this forum. Thanks much! |
