Default Hyperlink stability in Word

My problems with hyperlinks is; once I set the link within the current
document, it reverts to an outside webpage or source document after a save &
program exit. This mainly occurs when I use other documents as templates.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Version of Word?

There's a hyperlink base setting which could interfere, but w/o the
exact version I won't even start looking ... ;-)

sorry, I haven't had much online time recently!

OK, 2003 certainly has this setting. Unfortunately, I don't have it here
at the moment (only 2000 and 2007 :-)). I suspect you find a hyperlink
base somewhere in Tools | Options | General, Web Options?

Actually, it's in File | Properties | Summary.
