time zone & apt times auto changing
Every time I hit daylight savings time, if I use checkbox
for daylight savings time, it not only adjust computer time, but also changes all appointments ahead or back one hour. Is this a bug? Any work around? |

Check your time zone and daylight saving time settings in both Windows
and Outlook. Usually the problem you describe occurs when there's a time change of some kind -- Outlook takes it upon itself to move the appointment times. It's a little complicated to fix it, but you can use one of the methods described in the following two MSKB articles to help you fix it. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=197850 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=197480 -- Nikki Peterson [MVP - Outlook] "Mary" wrote in message ... This is a woefully unacceptable situation as the problem is not just with standard/daylight savings time, but also when
travelling over several time zones. The export and import 'solution' is crude at best and is totally unacceptable when syncing Outlook with a PDA when travelling. Is there not a fix (even a registry patch) to prevent appointment times and dates from changing every time one travels across a time zone? Set your timezone when it changes.
If you make an appointment in one time zone and then that zone changes, then you need to tell outlook that you are now changing. Outlook will reset your times to fit your zone. The fix is for folks that make appointments in the wrong time zone and then need to fix it. Had the appointments been made in the correct time zone the "fix" is not necessary. -- Nikki Peterson [MVP - Outlook] "LarryS" wrote in message ... time zone & apt times auto changing
Nikki, there is still a usability problem. Most, if not all, of my travel arrangements are set before leaving home. My home
time zone is GMT and I should be able to enter a 7.00 am flight from Los Angeles in three days time as being at 7.00 am on that date, not at, let me see, LA is eight hours behind GMT, so the flight is at midnight, but then when in New York the day before, my flight from LA will show not at midnight but at 10.00 am. So do I have time for an earlier meeting or not? I should be able to tell Outlook, both PC and PDA, the actual appointment and alarm times in the time zones they occur and look at tomorrow's time in LA while still in NY without having to mentally correct them. Then, the only thing that needs to be done is to change the system clocks to the time zone I am in when I arrive there so alarms, etc., work at the correct local time. No, lots of comments, but no solutions - at least none that I have found.
No-one calls it a bug, but no-one says 'working as designed', either.
