Default Two "Contacts"

I moved my Outlook 2003 pst file from my old computer to a new one.
Somehow this got messed up because Outlook displayed two identical
Personal Folders structures under All Mail Folders. I clicked on Data
File Management and deleted the second one.

My address book was not displaying so I went into Tools/Address
Book/Tools/Options and again see two Contacts entries under
Show this address list first,
Keep personal addresses in,
and When sending mail ...

By selecting the second entry in Show this address list first and Keep
personal addresses in, I was able to both display my address book
(from Contacts) and I was successfully able to add a new contact.

So now I know these two configuration setting are correct, but this
will likely be confusing at some point in the future when I have
forgotten the details so I want to get rid of the superfluous Contacts
entry. How do I delete the one that doesn't display or allow me to
add new contacts?

Let me start by saying you never add or remove contacts using the Address Book
interface. The Address Book doesn't contain any data. It's a view of those
Contacts folders you've enabled as address books.

You connected you moved PST to your mail profile incorrectly and damaged the
Outlook Address Book service. In Outlook, click ToolsEmail AccountView or
change existing doirectories or address booksNext. Select Outlook Address
Book and click Change. Remove the bogus entry there. Stop and restart
Outlook.
