Default filter?

I have a column that contains a bunch of repeating
information. what I would like is to somehow filter the
column so that only one of each topic appears.

for ex: printer is repeated 10 times, camera is repeated
20 times etc I want to somehow scan through the column and
only have one of each item shown. I need a quick way of
getting those items in that column only listed once.

any ideas...any help would be appreciated..

Default filter?

Hi
have a look at 'Data - Filter - Advanced Filter' and check 'Unique
values'

Default Persevering, that's what I am doing. Can you help me with the Advanced Filter?

Hi!

Conditional formatting can be used to make the unwanted repetitions
"disappear".

If col A has a series of values (a,a,a,b,b,b,b,b,c,c,c,d,d,d,d)
then click on A2. Select FormatConditional Formatting.
Cell value is : equal to : =$A1
Then format so that the font is the same colour as the background in
the cell.
Copy this cell and paste special:formats down the rest of the column.

Alf
