Default Open Records - one at a time

I would like to prevent a record from being updated by a user at the same
time. How can I enter code to prevent the same record in a form from being
updated by another user at the same time? The record can be opened multiply
times by different users but cannot be updated simultaneously. And if
someone opens the same record then tries to update a same record someone has
open and is updating, can I apply a popup message saying the record is
currently in use?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Goto Tools - Options - Advanced and under Default Record Locking select
Edited Record. It's now first come, first serve, so to speak!

Awesome Mr. Adams and Thank you! I will apply the option to Access 97
tomorrow.
And see if it works for the 30+ users that are still accessing the 97 DB. I
will let you know if it works

Thanks again

I can't swear that that option is available in v97, but it has been since
v2000.

Good luck!
