Default question on www.howto-outlook (duplicate emails)

Brian
I have Outlook 7 Vista premium. I recently added a outlook profile (mine)
and am getting the dup emails. In reading the directions on Outlook howto for
2007 version, I have followed the directions by conect to my original
pst-file by foing to FILEOPENOUTLOOK DATA FILE and am now looking at an
[Accounts folder] & Outlook folder. Now I'm stumped by the direction "move
all the newly received emails to that pst file". help? where's the pst file?

I don't know what you mean by "[Accounts folder]" and "Outlook folder".
Please describe more carefully or upload a screen shot to one of the many
image-hosting web sites and post the URL to that screen shot.

Default question on www.howto-outlook (duplicate emails)

Well, I don't know where the many image-hosting web sites are, so I guess
I'll have to describe in more detail.
When I followed the directions to get to the OUTLOOK DATA FILE. All I was
looking at was 2 folders on the right side of the split screen and all the
folders from Local Disk C on the left hand side.
The Outlook folder is open and displays the subfolder [Accounts folder] -
that's what I'm looking at. . . .
I guess I don't know what a pst file is and I'm not understanding how to
move my newly received emails to the pst file (when I don't see one in the
folders list)?
BTW - where can I find an image hosting website?

you can use Microsoft's skydrive or google's service.

To merge folders, you need to open the folders in outlook using File,
open, outlook data file then drag between the pst files. A tutorial is
he http://www.slipstick.com/tutorials/m.../merge_pst.htm

Picassa (http://picassa.google.com/), ImageShack (http://imageshack.us/), and
XSO Live
(http://www.xsolive.com/outlook%20scr...%20images.aspx)
are three places you can post screen shots. I'd use XSO Live.

A PST is a "Personal Folders File". It's what Outlook uses to store your data
(contacts, calendar, e-mail, etc.). Click FileData File Management or
ToolsAccount SettingsData Files to see your PSTs.

To move data from one folder to another, just select the folder containing the
data (in the Navigation Pane on the left side of the Outlook window), select
the specific data you wish to move (in the list on the right), then click
EditCopy (or Move) to Folder, specifying the folder you want to receive the
data or you can click on and drag the selection to the folder you want to
receive it. I think you could benefit from viewing some of the tutorials at
http://www.slipstick.com/tutorials/index.htm

Default question on www.howto-outlook (duplicate emails)

Brian thanks for the 3 image posting locations. I went to xsolive as you
suggested and I'm stumped just looking at the page. I would love to post an
image, but can't find directions on how to do this?

I viewed Slipsticks tutorial on merging pst, but that is not my problem.
When I received my emails from send/receive, I am getting duplicate emails in
my 1(one) Inbox.

I have tried going to FileOpenOutlook DataFile and I don't see what is on
Slipsticks tutorial - mine is completely different. I have watched the (very
fast speaking) tutorial 8 times now, trying to catch new info on where the
instructer is and I can't figure it out. (sigh . . . . .) I'm beginning to
think I'll never get this fixed. Meanwhile, my outbox is holding all
outgoing emails, but I can received emails. I've tried clicking on the
send/receive but nothing goes out.

help?

Right at the top of the XSOLive Outlook Screen Shot web page is the statement
"pictures to help identify Outlook problems. Login using one of the following
usernames: demo\test, demo\newuser, or demo\spsuser. Password Xsolive2007"
So, click the "Sign In" link are the very top right of the page just to the
left of the blue question mark and enter one of those usernames ("demo\test",
"demo\newuser" or "demo\spsuser" and the password "Xsolive2007". Then you can
post your screen shot by clicking the down arrow just to the right of "Upload"
and choosing "Upload Picture".

Okay, now that I've posted my picture of the Outlook Data file, how can I
get
started merging psts? Can you look at my image http://tinyurl.com/38mlehj
and tell me how to get rid of the duplicate messages?

That's a link to a Word document, not a screen shot link. I won't download
unknown Word documents from the Internet. Make a real screenshot. Display
what you want me to see, press Alt-PrintScreen, open Paint, and press Ctrl+V
to paste the screen shot into Paint. Now save it as either a bitmap or a jpeg
file, then upload that to XSOLive and post its URL.
