Default Opening old Visio files...

Hello,

Someone sent me a Visio file that was created with a very
old pre-Microsoft version of Visio. Is there any way to
open it in the current Visio viewer or are there any
conversion utilities for this situation? (I don't have a
full version of Visio, just the viewer.) I don't know if
this is a coherent question. I had never heard of Visio
before receiving this file and don't know much about it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

The Visio Viewer supports version 5, 2000, 2002, 2003.

Visio 2000 only supports 5 and later.

From memory, Visio 5 opens Visio 4, 4.1 & 4.5 ( we are back to 1995 now)

So, unless your source can save them into another file format, you will have
to find a copy of Visio 5 probably to open your file, then save it so you
can use the Viewer.
We have had to do this for a client recently. If you only have the one
file, and it's not sensitive, then send to , and we'll
try to open it for you.

Any version of Visio can open Visio files created in any previous version of
Visio. Including Visio 1.0.

The Visio Viewer is more limited and will only open Visio files since Visio
5.
