I have two computers and they are set up the same way.
In excel 2000 I have been trying to use the solver function. On one of my computers I have installed this add in and it works perfectly, on the other it will not appear on the menu bar after it has been loaded as an add in. I initially tried to install the add in and when I went to the tools menu it just was not there. I when back to the add in command and there was a check beside the tool. When I uncheck this item I get a Microsoft Visual Basic dialogue box and it says "class not registered Looking for object with CLSID:{AC9F2F90-E877-11CE-9F68- 008AA00574A4F}. When I did na search for this up on the internet most suggestions were that I should reload MS office. I have done this without success. Would appreciate any assistance. Thank in advance |

Sounds like the Solver Addin or one of its components is missing.
It should be in the following location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE##\Library\SOLVER or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE##\Library\ The "##" in the path depends on your version of Microsoft Office. There are two files: SOLVER.XLA & SOLVER32.DLL Either try re-installing Office making sure to install every portion of Excel (I always install everything) or copy the two files from your other machine to the appropriate folder on the machine giving you trouble. -- _______________________ Robert Rosenberg R-COR Consulting Services Microsoft MVP - Excel http://www.r-cor.com "Richard" wrote in message ... Thank you for your advice. I have checked and both my
computers have these two files in the \Library\SOLVER files. Should I still copy the files from the one that works, delete and install on the one that does not? regards -----Original Message----- Sounds like the Solver Addin or one of its components is missing.
