Default footnotes in tables

Is there a way to make footnotes, whose references are in a table, to
appear in the table, as opposed to at the bottom of the page? Thank you
very much for any help.

I handle these manually. Insert the footnote reference marks by hand (using
the *, â€*, ‡ series or superscripted lowercase letters), then put the
footnotes in the last row of the table, merging cells as needed and omitting
any borders.
