Default Can't input date in any input masks

I'm using Chinese windows 2000 with sp4, and English office 2000 with sp1.

I design a table with creating 1 text field and 1 date field, and have
"phone" input mask for the text field and "short date" input mask for the
date field. Then i go to view mode to input data, but when I input numbers
into those 2 fields, I can only input numbers into the first position.
something like this:
1. (_ _ _) _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ -------- when i move curse to the phone field,
i see this
2. (* _ _) _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ -------- when i start to type numbers, only *
position is changed responding to what I typed. and mouse never moves to the
second position.
3. the problem is similar to the "date" field. I can see the layout, but I
can't input the whole data.
4. However when I move this .mdb file to Chinese windows 98 computer, the
table works fine. Sooooooooooo unblievable.

Any helps will be appreciated... Thanks a lot.
