converting files wtih headers
We have 400 staff resumes in Word. The resume template has the staff name and titles are in a header. We have a third party indexing utility called Folio that automatically converts the .doc files into .rtf before doing the indexing.
Our problem is the staff name in the header is not being exported so it does not get indexed. Is there a way to force the header information to be exported? Or Is there a utilty that can batch convert the files to text with the headers? Thanks Don |

converting files wtih headers
If you ran a macro containing the following command it will take the
information from the header and place it at the beginning of the document: ActiveDocument.Range.InsertBefore ActiveDocument.Sections(1).Headers(wdHeaderFooterP rimary).Range You could use a batch process to do this on all of the files in a particular folder The macro in the article “Find & ReplaceAll on a batch of documents in the same folder” at: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/BatchFR.htm could be modified for the purpose. -- Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the benefit of others who may be interested.
