msaccess bug: has anybody seen this one and would know what to do
hello all ... :-)
recently, in my msaccess database, whenever i try to create a new form, i get some very strange behaviour in the design interface. when in "properties" ( i hope this translates correctly from german) i want to show the properties of the form (i.e. right bouse button - properties - datasource ...), i have no possibility to chose the "detail" section of the form, rather the pulldown at the top of the design properties interface concatenates the names for all the sections of the form, which (in german) the looks like this: DetailbereichFormularkopfFormularkopf and so on. in some cases, at least it lets me chose the formheader and other sections, in other cases all i get is blank lines in the pulldown. i have already tried to "repair" my complete office installation, but that would not work. any ideas. i have not been able to find anything like this anywhere in the internet, but i though that, maybe, some of you who deal with msaccess all day long have run into this one and know what i am talking about .... 1000 thanks already, for all tips ... cheers ingo |

I have not seen this before. This may be specific to the German language
version of Access. There are German language Access newsgroups which you can access from a newsreader like Outlook Express or Windows Mail. Try this newsgroup: microsoft.public.de.access -- Arvin Meyer, MCP, MVP http://www.datastrat.com http://www.mvps.org/access http://www.accessmvp.com "ipk*" wrote in message ... hello all ... :-) recently, in my msaccess database, whenever i try to create a new form, i get some very strange behaviour in the design interface. when in "properties" ( i hope this translates correctly from german) i want to show the properties of the form (i.e. right bouse button - properties - datasource ...), i have no possibility to chose the "detail" section of the form, rather the pulldown at the top of the design properties interface concatenates the names for all the sections of the form, which (in german) the looks like this: DetailbereichFormularkopfFormularkopf and so on. in some cases, at least it lets me chose the formheader and other sections, in other cases all i get is blank lines in the pulldown. i have already tried to "repair" my complete office installation, but that would not work. any ideas. i have not been able to find anything like this anywhere in the internet, but i though that, maybe, some of you who deal with msaccess all day long have run into this one and know what i am talking about ... 1000 thanks already, for all tips ... cheers ingo |

Have you applied all the Service Packs? A2007 had some "Hotfixes" - additional corrected code over and above the hotfixes; have you obtained them? -- John W. Vinson [MVP] |

msaccess bug: has anybody seen this one and would know what to do
thanks to all the replies. i had one more idea this morning and that was
deleting all labels on the form and re-doing them. don't ask me how i came up with this idea, but i somehow had the impression, that whenever i generated a new form, based on this defective one, or better, whenever i copied the complete collection of labels from this form to a new one, the new form would be equally messed up. and, by the way, all other form i would open thereafter. very strange. i could open any old form and change its properties, but as soon as this specific form was opened, the properties dialog was messed up. so ... anyways ... there were a few labels with text and equally named "lbl_quantity [ug]" or "lbl_concentration [mg]/ [m l]" in there. it seems msaccess did not like that. the result was remotely reminicent of what you get when you write over assigned memory boundaries. so far, i think, the problem went away after giving the new labels more standard names. hope this helps someone somewhere someday ... greetings ingo "ipk*" wrote: hello all ...
