Default Publisher and continuous feed paper or custom paper size?

I have Microsoft Office XP Small Business. I am using Microsoft Publisher.
This is regarding setting custom paper sizes. In my old Publisher I could
set-up to print on continuous feed paper and I could also select "custom" in
page set-up to change my paper size to whatever I wanted. Is this lost
forever in this newer version of Publisher? If not, can you tell me the
secret? I bought this system thinking it would offer more but keep finding
that many of the options I loved so much are actually gone, not better.
Thanks in advance!

As long as your printer drivers support continous feed paper or custom paper
sizes, Publisher can print to it. If you recently upgraded your Windows OS,
you may have found some new limits to your printer driver on XP. Be sure you
have downloaded the latest printer drivers for your OS.

In Publisher 2002/2003, go to File Page Setup Properties of your Printer
and set your custom size.

We just purchased this computer with XP loaded at the factory, shouldn't the
printer drivers already be loaded? When I go into printer properties I have
the option of custom size paper but not continuous feed. When I change the
paper size to longer than legal it prints to 2 sheets. When I select banner
it also prints to multiple sheets. If in fact I do need to download drivers,
will this add the opton of continuous feed to the list?

Does your printer driver show continuous feed as an option?

What model printer? Have you tried the manufacturer's web site?

HP 712C. Check their website to see if my current driver has this option?
(you are speaking with a computer duh) I did go to the website to see if
they had updates for my driver. It said no updates needed but it read my
driver as 720C even though it shows 712C on my computer.

You have answered your own question. You are using a seven year old printer.
Unfortunately, HP stopped supporting that model about 6½ years ago, and
there is no driver. The driver you are using is native to XP and doesn't
support ptinting on continuous paper as it was designed for basic features
only. If you wish to print on banner (continuous) paper, you will need to
purchase a newer printer that supports it.
