I know how to obtain

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

for today's date. But how can I change the Tuesday to Tues? Or Friday to
Fri, etc.

this may post twice. my first post attempt crashed. i think.

custom format

ddd, mmm dd, yy 'all abbreviated
or
ddd, mmmm dd, yyyy ' long version
