Default Math on merge fields?

I have a number of merge fields that I need to perform math on. How can I do
this in my Word document? I basically need to subtract one or more fields
from another. (ie. tuition - deposit)

Any help would be appreciated!

Use a formula field e.g.

{=({Mergefield Tuition} - {Mergefield Deposit})}
