Default 'the data folder personal files did not closed properly'

Ever since I installed the Windows XP service pack 2 I have had problems with
my copy of Outlook 2002. Most times when I go to open the message 'the data
folder personal files did not closed properly' and there is a pause while the
program checks these files.
Why is this happening?
What can I do about it?
Many thanks for your advice
Andy
