Default Excel 2003 saving problem

Hi i need some help

I have just purchased a new pc with office 2003 which i
am running on a network which controlled by an NT4 server
and has a novell 6 file server which we store all of the
network user files on. the problem that im having is that
i cant save new or file which i want to save under a
differnt name onto the novell server. it will let me save
changes to files have are already stored on the server it
will also let me copy file on and off the server. but i
wont let me create new ones. every time that i go to save
the file it says that the folder is read only. if that is
the case then i shouldnt be able to write any thing into
it. i have tried to do the same thing with a copy of
excel 2000 on the same machine a dont have any problems.

Can anyone help me.

I've seen the same problem.

XP machine logging into an NT domain and a Novell NDS server. They had problems saving files to the Novell server.
Turned out to be an issue with the version of Novell client. Upgraded to 4.83 sp1 and it was fixed.

Heck, I should have just posted Jim's text:

The MSKB article that discusses this problem:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];824424

suggests ways to contact MS. I don't know of any other ways.
