Default Printing problems

Cari,

I'm not an MVP (except maybe in my own mind!) but having read the
threads in this NG for years - yea, it is probably a printer issue. I've
bitched about it to Brian a bunch - he defends it! - but the truth is a
host of problems using Publisher are solved by upgrading either a video
card or a printer driver.

You'll have to take this up with Mr. Gates.

Mike

Incorrect. If all other applications print correctly, and the Original
Poster says this is indeed true, it is a Publisher issue, not a printer one.

You stick with the Publisher issues and I'll deal with the printer ones, OK?

And there are now plenty of wireless printers, or are you unaware of this?

Cari go back to your cave and come out when you have some basic knowledge
about MS programs.

Cari were does MS pick up you half baked ignorant dummies from. I suppose
the next thing you will be a programmer for MS in the Publisher division!!!

Cari read my lips, p*** off till you learn and acquire some basic knowledge
on MS programs.

Cari I can assure you and guarantee you this is a driver problem or a
network configuration problem and NOT repeat NOT NOT NOT an MS Publisher
problem.

Cari I will stick with everything and in the mean time, go back to computer
kindergarten with a diaper/nappy.

Cari please just **** off permanently and leave the knowledgeable here to
sort things out.

Cari,

You can plonk or killfile whoever you want to, but it still does not
change the fact your post was spot off. Yeah, David is cruel and really
likes to tee off on any MVP who posts inaccurate info, but that's what
you did.

Actually it was spot on. The original poster can print happily from ALL
OTHER applications... therefore it is not the printer driver or print
spooler that is not working, it is his Publisher application.

Cari,

A posting from Google:

Microsoft Office Publisher 2003 and older are critical about printer
drivers. Usually upgrading (or downgrading in some cases) will fix
the problems you are encountering.
Brian Kvalheim
Microsoft Publisher MVP

And from
http://www.davidbartosik.com/general...ny%20problems:

Printer Drivers, Why does Publisher have some many problems? é

The Publisher team spent quite a bit of time investigating some of the
random printer driver failures and found that the reason some drivers
will fail with Pub and not other apps is that Publisher makes use of a
lot of less-often used printer driver features that Word, for example,
does not use. This is because Publisher, like other DTP apps, is a
precision layout tool that is very demanding of printer drivers. Word on
the other hand is not a layout tool, it is a stream-based word processor
with no concept of absolute positioning, nor any need for some of the
advanced printer driver features that are used by Publisher to achieve
absolute positioning.

Over the years, I have read dozens and dozens of posts just like the
original poster said: I can print from all other MS apps but not
Publisher. The advice given is ALWAYS the same as the above.
