Default formula to work in a 3-d reference with 2 work books

I originally had a sumif formula working with 2 work books however when i
attempted to apply it to more than one sheet in the one work book it would
not allow me to do so (because of the 3-d reference.
workbook 1 is the main data gathering database.
work book 2 is where i have multiple sheets where as if column "c" is equal
to certain text than multiply column "d" by x.
any ideas????????
please help

On each sheet, in the same cell reference, place your SUMIF formulas. Note
that by first selecting all sheets, and then inputting formula, you can save
some keystrokes.

Now you can use a 3D SUM function to add up all the different SUMIF's.
