I am a 75 year disabled amateur when it comes to computers. I just bought a new one with Windows XP and MS Office 2003, student edition. It doesn’t have MS Publisher. I had Publisher in my other computer and created several files that I want to get at but I can’t access any of them as the message tells me that it won’t open them with the old version. I don’t want to have to buy a new Publisher as I have other programs that will do the job for me. Is there a way that I can save these files in one of my other programs? These are the programs that I have installed now.
MS Publisher 98 & Picture It
Corel Office Suite 11, Corel Draw 9 & Essentials
Adobe Photo Deluxe & Photoshop Elements

Are you running Norton Antivirus?

If the files were created in Publisher 98 and you have Publisher 98
installed, they should open without any issues.

If you have the garbage troublesome Norton AV installed, RE-move/UN-install
the garbage and your problems will be over.
Publisher files cannot be opened with any other program, other than the same
or later version of Publisher.

Old Man Jake,

I've heard of continuing education, but you are setting a new standard.
:-) No disrespect intended (really!), but are you studying to be
something when you get older?

Actually Jake, you don't have to uninstall Norton, just disable script blocking and
in options disable "Office Plug-ins.
