Default Ribbon in Publisher?

Jan Kucera wrote:
That's true, do you think it couldn't be separated? It would be quite
pretty to have all these shadows and glows in Publisher instead of
WordArt, as well as SmartArt or math/equations. I believe that live
preview is not possible, though.
And I would welcome the XML file format as well, which could be probably
achieved without Ribbon.

I think that if I should choose between these features and not having
the Ribbon, I would probably choose not having the Ribbon.

I think the Ribbon _could_ work in Publisher, and if it had to come in
order to get OfficeArt, then it'd be welcome. That's JMHO, though.

The XML file format I'm less bothered about. If it means Publisher files
are less prone to corruption, then it would be welcome, but it would
bring back all the problems surrounding compatibility between versions.
Unless a rock-solid Filter Pack were released for older versions, as has
been done with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. However, formatting loss (as
seems to have always been the case when Publisher has had Save As An
Older Version) would be an unacceptable trade-off, IMHO.
