Unhappy publisher 2003 locks up PC

publisher 2003 locks up PC (cannot even ctrl alt del, need to reset) when resizing objects - in the downward direction only, occurs intermittantly on small and large documents especially when resizing box beyond the page length

Have tried fixing and re installing application. to no avail. please help

AMD Athlon 64bit processor
256 Mb shared ram - mem test OK
OS win 2000 pro - chkdsk no errors
cannot find hardware physical problem, only exists in publisher
